The Logistics Sector is Growing in the Midst of Ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic

As the Covid-19 pandemic has yet to subside, the community is faced with uncertainty on all fronts. The economic sector is also affected by the pandemic. The Indonesian government corrected the prediction of economic growth to 0.4 percent until the end of 2020.

This prediction is based on the fact that almost all business lines have slowed down.  But it turns out that despite the pandemic, several business sectors are actually growing, such as e-commerce, food and beverage, as well as expedition and courier.

The growing business sectors also positively affect the automotive industry, particularly in the commercial vehicle sector, as the growing logistics and courier sectors require operational vehicles.

This phenomenon is also recognized by Asperindo (Association of Indonesian Express, Post, and Logistics Delivery Companies), which keeps preparing its members to become Indonesia’s economic breadwinner in combating Covid-19.

Even though the expedition and courier sectors are growing, Asperindo considers that the logistics sector has yet to fully recover. During the pandemic, many business sectors only use up their existing stocks. Thus, goods delivery has yet to become active like it used to be. It is predicted that logistics activities will become normal and active in 1 or 2 months after the new normal period in August.

The logistics sector is also one of the business units of PT Serasi Autoraya (SERA), which belongs to the Astra Group. PT Serasi Logistik Indonesia (SELOG) provides logistics service solutions covering logistics services based on contracts, delivery of goods service, warehouse management, and comprehensive freight forwarding through land, sea, and air transportation routes.

Currently, SELOG is managing 1,600 units of trucks and 12 cargo ships. Every year, SELOG handles more than 935,000 cargo deliveries. SELOG is also present to provide various end-to-end logistics services, one of which is courier services. In general, the express courier service is divided into standard service and resolutive service.

Standard service covers same-day service, next-day service, and regular service. Meanwhile, with resolutive service, there is no need for you to worry if you require a special service such as VPD (Valuable, Perishable, Dangerous Goods) service for documents or delivery of heavy package and goods that are too large to be delivered with regular cargo service.

In addition, SELOG also provides SELOG Express service for document and package delivery. SELOG currently serves a broad industry segment, namely automotive, consumer goods, heavy equipment, staple commodities, and others.
