Trucks are a crucial mode of transportation in logistics, thanks to their large size and ability to carry heavy loads. Given these advantages, trucks are often the go-to vehicles for shipping companies.

8 Types of Logistics Trucks


Pickup

A pickup or light truck comes in single and double-cab versions. This truck is usually used for transporting loads up to 1.5 tons or CBM. However, some manufacturers design them with a capacity of 6 CBM.


Colt Diesel Truck

This two-axle truck is commonly used for lighter loads, up to a maximum of 5 tons.


Dump Truck

There are two types of dump trucks: light and medium duty. Light duty trucks can carry up to 7 tons, while medium duty can haul up to 16 tons.


Tronton

This three-axle truck can carry loads up to 10 tons. It has one axle at the front and two at the rear, for a total of 10 wheels. Tronton is often used by logistics and shipping companies to transport containers with a wide range of cargo.


Trintin

Similar to a tronton, a trintin has a center axle to support a long container bodies.


Furthermore, it utilizes Four Wheel Steering (FWS), allowing 4 wheels (one front, one middle, and two rear) to be steered. With its substantial size, this truck can carry up to 20 tons.

Trinton

This truck has a carrying capacity of up to 30 tons with 4 axles that can be divided into two sets. The front and middle axles are steerable. Like the Trintin, the trinton also features FWS power steering.


Trailer

This truck can carry between 20 and 60 tons, with a cargo bed that can be as long as 14 meters and as wide as 2.5 meters. It comes in different types, such as 20-foot trailers with 4 to 5 axles and 40-foot trailers with 6 axles, with a total of 16 to 24 wheels. Both types are divided into low bed, flatbed, and flat track.


Wingbox

This is a very common type used in the logistics and shipping industries. With 2 side doors that can be opened upwards like wings, making the loading and unloading process easier.


Wingbox has a two-axle configuration, similar to a tronton. Logistics companies often refer to them as a tronton wingbox or a colt diesel wingbox.
