Pomodoro Technique: The Most Effective Time Management for Work

Productivity is key to achieving success or the goals set by an individual or institution, including a business institution or company.

A productive employee can complete his/her work punctually and efficiently, increasing the company’s productivity within a specified period.

When it comes to being productive, you can’t take time management out of the picture since they are inseparable. And in the workplace, there is one popular time management technique called the Pomodoro technique.

What Is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro technique was developed by an Italian expert named Francesco Cirillo in 1980. It’s a time management technique designed to help one stay focused while completing a task.

Francesco applied this technique when he was a student striving to get good grades. It entails dividing study materials into segments and studying each segment within a specific duration.

Francesco allocated 25 minutes to read or work on his task and then 5 minutes to rest. During his break, he did a couple of pleasant activities to relax and rejuvenate his mind.

For example, he would make coffee or other drink and walk around in his front yard. After that, he went back to work on his tasks.

“If you divide your main task into smaller chunks with a shorter work timeframe, it will be easier to do it,” he said.

After he graduated, Francesco applied his technique at work. The technique was named after a timer of the same name in Italian.
