Indonesia is a promising motor vehicle market with a population of 277.43 million (according to World Population Prospects 2022, United Nations report). This is particularly true since the ratio of car ownership is considerably low, with 99 units per 1,000 population.

”MPV is a great option. It accommodates a lot of passengers. It has at least seven passenger seats with many types, from Low-Cost Green Car (LGCC) to the premium,” he said when contacted in Jakarta.
Culture and habit are the main factors for the MPV popularity in Indonesia. Indonesians love to travel in one car with their family, relatives, or friends.

When it comes to choosing a car, the SUV apparently ranked second or third. The buyers are those with a higher purchasing power. It is unsurprising since SUV is way more expensive than the same class MPV (for example, Low SUV compared to Low MPV).

The consideration of choosing an SUV, however, is still related to the larger passenger and luggage capacity. SUV is much preferred for its endurance on harsh tracks and a more solid, masculine style.
