An auction can be the preferred place to find used cars. Various types and models are available there, from MPV, city car, sedan, 4x4, or even big-sized commercial vehicle such as food truck.
Buyer-to-be can make a bid with the starting price likely to be below the market price. However, there are things to consider when buying a used car in auction. What are they?
First, we have tofind the right auction because there are different types of auction. There are auctions offering bulk sales of cars for companies, and there are also those that offer cars by the unit. There are closed auctions only for people with invitations, and there are also open auctions.
That is why an individual buyer who’s looking for only one car needs to find the right kind of auction, while making sure thatthe auction is open for public.
The buyer must also understand how to check a car’s condition because cars are auctioned as they are. Thus, the buyer needs to know about engine condition and find out whether the papers are complete.
However, there are auctions that welcome individual participants. They don’t have to buy cars in bulk either, but instead by the unit. The participants can be anyone, and they can bring the car home directly after they win the auction and complete the payment.
Our auction house, IBID—under PT SerasiAutoraya (SERA) and part of Astra Group—allows anyone to buy an auction participant number to buy one car or more. People can come, look at the cars put up for auction, and if there’s any car that attracts their attention, they can directly buy an auction participant number (NPL) to take part in the auction.
As for car condition, we have an evaluation system. The results can be seen on the paper attached to a car’s windshield. The evaluation is carried out on the exterior, the interior, and the engine including the electrical system.
The cars are graded, from highest to lowest, as A, B, C, D, or E. By checking the evaluation results, an auction participant can opt for cars that are within their budget range. It’s the same thing with the papers: the information about them will be clearly given in the evaluation results.
