Indonesian Government Prepares a Regulation for Electric Vehicles

Indonesian government plans to develop electric car and motorcycle in the country. This goal has also been supported by President Joko Widodo.

“Moving forward, people will need to start seeing the benefits of electric cars as things are going towards the trend,” Jokowi said in South Jakarta, Sunday (July 30, 2017) as quoted from Kompas.com.

According to the target, the production capacity of electric cars in 2025 will reach 20%.

Industry Minister AirlanggaHartarto said, by 2025, the government wants the electric cars in Indonesia to reach 20% of total overall vehicles. The regulation itself is currently being reviewed by Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Finance, with one point of discussions is tax issue.

“The presence of electric cars in 2025 will be limited to 20%. From now on until 2025, there will be hybrid based vehicles. We will see how both technologies will evolve,” Airlangga said in Jakarta, Monday (August 28, 2017), as quoted from Antara.

Electric car is expected to be more efficient and eco-friendly. However, efficiency and eco-friendliness also can be achieved if we limit the use of personal vehicles and instead, renting cars.

Renting a car will reduce the number of private cars on the road. Everyone can rent a car. And if we use professional driver service, they will know how to drive the car with maximum fuel efficiency. This is the kind of service that TRAC can provide.

TRAC is only using the latest, quality, and environmentally friendly vehicles - be it for Airport Transport, shuttle vehicles for office or school, or leisure. Therefore, while waiting for the finalization of electric cars regulation and implementation, we can use TRAC service for professional and convenient rental car service.
