Working From Home Tips to Stay Productive

In order to stop the spread of the coronavirus in Indonesia, the government has issued an appeal for social distancing that encourages people to do various activities at home. This social distancing policy has been in effect since it was conveyed by President Joko Widodo on Sunday (15/3). People are requested not to leave the house as much as possible in relation with the spread of the Covid-19.

This policy is also applied to the scope of work of the Astra Group, including SERA. SERA Group itself, through all of its business units, is very concerned about the Covid-19 pandemic.  TRAC, mobil88, and IBID issue certain policies to provide security and comfort for their respective customers, for example:

  • TRAC ensures the hygiene of its cars by cleaning them every day, providing a hand sanitizer in every car, and requiring drivers to wear a mask.

  • mobil88 ensures the cleanliness of the cars being sold and facilitates the online purchasing process so that the customers do not need to come to the showroom. Car purchase can be conducted via mobil88 e-store application that can be downloaded here or through https://www.mobil88.astra.co.id/

  • As an auction house, IBID has also shifted the onsite auction process to online to minimize the concentration of people in one place and make customers more comfortable because they can participate in the auction from anywhere. However, working from home will certainly have a different feeling from working in the office, from the atmosphere to time management. Usually, if you don't have a workspace at home, you will tend to work from the bed. If this is the case, the temptation to laze around would be pretty high.

Well, to finish your work properly and stay productive, consider the following tips in order to work from home efficiently.

  1. Manage Time Effectively

Unlike working from the office, where everybody must be present to do their work, the atmosphere of working from home is wildly different. It can even make it difficult to focus. If that is the case, you should make it as if you were working in the office. Suppose you usually start working at 9 am in the office, it means that at home you also have to start working at 9 am. In addition, manage your time just like what you usually do at the office.

2. Working at home with children

One of the hardest things about working at home is babysitting. You can get around this by making the children busy so that you can work freely at home. You can give them toys that they like or a book to read. If it is not possible, you might want to take turns with your partner so you can divide your time between working and parenting.

3. Get enough rest

Generally, time will fly faster when working from home compared to working from the office. Even so, don't forget to have lunch and to take a short break from your laptop. This way, it is hoped that all the work can be done effectively while ensuring that you stay healthy.

4. Maintain Communication

Working from home does not mean that you are free from your boss or coworkers and can just relax all the time. You should maintain good communication if your working hours are the same as working from the office. It doesn’t mean that you have to be in front of the computer or laptop all the time. If you need to take a break, you should tell your co-workers or boss.

5. Health is Number one

The most important thing is that you still have to take care of your health. Needless to say, if you are healthy then you will stay productive. Don't forget to eat sufficiently. You should also consume vitamins and water. Make sure that all of your nutritional needs are fulfilled even when working from home. Drinking lots of water can also help to improve your focus while working from home.
