Overview
After going through a period of crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic that hit in 2020-2021, Indonesia's economic growth began to rise and show positive movements. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the national economy was recorded to grow by 5.04% in the fourth quarter of 2023. The increase occurred in various business sectors, including the transportation and logistics industry which is quite dominating and grew up to 13.96%. Even Supply Chain Indonesia (SCI) predicts that Indonesia's economic growth in 2024 will show an upward trend. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the transportation and logistics industry is expected to reach Rp 1,463.1 trillion, an increase from 2023 which only recorded Rp 1,245.1 trillion, and in 2022 Rp 983.5 trillion. The tourism sector, which is one of the largest contributors to the country's foreign exchange, also continues to experience a positive trend after Covid-19. The number of domestic tourist trips in the first semester of 2023 reached 433.57 million, up 12.57% from 2022. Meanwhile, the number of foreign tourist visits as of July 2023 reached 6.31 million visits, up 196.85% from 2022. Seeing the increasing trend that continues to occur, in 2024 it is targeted that there will be around 8.5 million foreign tourist visits and 1.4 billion domestic tourist movements. Along with the high increase, the demand for rental has also continued to improve every year. On the other side, promising prospects have also emerged in the logistics industry since online shopping through e-commerce began to trend. SCI predicts the potential of logistics service business in 2024 can grow up to 14.16 percent from 2023.
